Robin Norris graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1975. He is licensed to practice in all Texas Courts, all United States District Courts in Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has devoted his entire professional career of over 35 years to the practice of criminal law. After opening his first law office in 1978, he pursued a successful trial and appellate practice before the courts of El Paso and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin, the highest court with criminal jurisdiction in Texas. In 1986, he was invited to join the permanent staff of the Court of Criminal Appeals, and moved to Austin with his family, where he wrote hundreds of opinions for the Court, construing and defining the criminal law of the state for years to come. Then, in 1997, he returned to the private practice of criminal law, with an emphasis on the representation of death-row inmates convicted of capital murder. In recent years, his practice has once again broadened to focus on providing general criminal defense services to the people of El Paso County, both at trial and on appeal. His current association with Michael Aaronson is a restoration of their professional friendship and collaboration dating to the earliest years of their law practice in El Paso
